From day one, we've been fascinated by the idea of "multipliers" – the small things in the world that have an outsized impact on their ecosystem.
From honey bees and wolves in nature to ChatGPT in technology, even viruses in medicine, multipliers have the power to disrupt systems, change them, and leave a lasting, positive impact.
As an agency focused on building cultural relevance for our partners, we decided to take on ourselves as clients. What started as an experiment evolved into a campaign and is now our identity. The gray wolf is a perfect example of a multiplier. A small pack of wolves transformed Yellowstone’s entire ecosystem and had an incredibly positive, cascading effect on the whole park. As Multiplier, we seek to have the same impact on culture for our clients.
We’ve embraced the wolf as we’ve grown, increasing our pack and expanding our influence. Even our process of creating cultural currency is influenced by ecosystems: think, make, do, learn, repeat. This approach increases communication within the team and allows our thinking to improve as we become more integrated with our partners.
MORE ABOUT MULTIPLIERThe wolf is a multiplier that transforms entire ecosystems for the better. The Yellowstone gray wolf reintroduction is a remarkable case study of how wolves can bring life back to a dying ecosystem. By controlling the elk and deer populations and keeping them away from the rivers and meadows, wolves have allowed new species of plants and animals to thrive.
Suddenly, the river banks, plants, and trees are no longer diminishing, and small animals are flourishing. Even the bear, beaver, raptor, and fish populations are now in balance, thanks to the presence of wolves. The wolf is a powerful symbol of transformation and the positive impact that even a single species can have on an entire ecosystem.
We’ve been friends and fans of Robert for a long time. Many of us started at the same agency in Dallas, and he’s gone off to design amazing things from skateboards and booze bottles to merchandise and packaging.
When we decided to bring the wolf to life at Multiplier, we knew we wanted to work with Robert.
“My approach was based on a howling wolf, calling out to the world, making himself known. The character is created from a variety of different, organic, hand-drawn shapes, alluding to the the notion that the Multiplier team is also a collection of shapes (aka. people) and ideas that come together to form a single entity."
